Recruitment Overview:
The Village of Savoy Fire Department accepts applications for paid on call firefighters two times per year for applicants with no prior training in emergency services (Fire Service, EMS, Police and some forms of Military Service). Those applicants should apply during the months of October or April in order to be considered for our Probationary Firefighter Orientation Program that starts in December and June of each year respectively. Applicants with prior training and/or experience in emergency services can apply at any time of the year and those applicants with experience will be given preference in hiring on a case by case basis (amount of training and experience, location of experience, etc.). Applicants with prior emergency service experience may be asked to delay being hired until the next full Probationary Firefighter Orientation Program begins. Applications can be picked at the Station on Monday Nights from 6pm to 6:30pm or online in Adobe Acrobat PDF format by clicking here on the Savoy Fire Department Firefighter Application. You then must submit the completed application to the department at the Fire Station on Monday nights, by faxing to the station at (217) 359-7295 or by mail to the station at P.O. Box 703, Savoy, IL. 61874 prior to November 1st or May 1st for applicants with no experience in order to be considered. As stated before applicants with emergency services experience may apply at any time and are hired as a “lateral hire” on a case by case basis. Application Requirements:
Applicants must be over the age of 19 at the time of appointment.  Applicants must either live in or work in the Village of Savoy or in the area bordered by and including Staley Road to the West (Champaign County Road 800 East), Kirby Avenue (Champaign side)/Florida (Urbana side) Avenue to the North (Champaign County Road 1500 North), Race Street to the East (Champaign County Road 1350 East) and Monticello Road to the South (Champaign County Road 1000 North).
