Welcome From the Chief

Thank you for taking the time to look at the Savoy Fire Department website. We invite you to browse through our web page. The Savoy Fire Department has a proud history of serving the village citizens and surrounding area since 1956.

Savoy Fire Department is an ISO 3 paid-on-call department, averaging 1087 service calls annually and providing protection for 10,000 residents. We employ approximately 30 dedicated men and women firefighters, EMT’S, and paramedics, which includes 3 Fire Investigators, 1 Arson Investigators, 1 Fire Inspectors, and a Public Information Officer. Our leadership consists of a Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, 2 Captains, and 4 Lieutenants.

We respond to a variety of calls, such as, Structure Fires, Emergency Medical Responses, Vehicle Accidents, Hazardous Materials Incidents,Fire Prevention Activites, and Public Education events. Our apparatus includes 4 engines, 1 tower ladder, 1 utility vehicle, 1 command vehicle, and a fire safety house. The community is also protected 24/7 by a contract ALS ambulance located within our station and is staffed by a paramedic and EMT-B. The Department participates in a very progressive county wide mutual aid program (MABAS 28).

Savoy Fire Department is dedicated to training all its members on a weekly basis and education is a large part of our passion and existence. Recently, we partnered with the Red Cross to ensure all Savoy residents have working smoke detectors within their homes. Our station is routinely open to the community for tours and to become better acquainted with our firefighters. Public education is key in fire prevention.

As a life long resident of the Village of Savoy and a member of Savoy Fire Department, I believe that good is never good enough when it comes to our citizens and the people we protect.

Best Regards,
Doug Varner
